Labor Day weekend, sadly, marks the end of summer — but luckily for South Florida, the summer sun shines all year round.

So what is Labor Day weekend? The holiday was inaugurated in 1894 to celebrate American workers’ contributions to the country, and we’ve been celebrating with parades, picnics, fireworks and more ever since.

For those who find themselves in the Greater Fort Lauderdale area, beach season is still in full swing. Just walk around, and you’ll find free live music, beach yoga, happy hours and kayak tours galore.

The Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District has a number of bars and restaurants with patios where you can sit out and watch the Labor Day weekend yacht party cruises in the water. There are also plenty of festivals and concerts, both free and ticketed, across venues such as the BB&T Center, the Seminole Hard Rock Event Center, Revolution Live and The Venue Fort Lauderdale.
